West 49th Street, NYC | Unmarked-Crosswalk

Before

After

Overview

The pedestrian crossing markings and ‘STOP’ bar at the crosswalks on West 49th Street at its junction with Rockefeller Plaza, had deteriorated to the extent that drivers were unaware of the point at which to stop for crossing pedestrians, with the result that lives of pedestrians were being put at risk.  The ‘STOP’ bar on the road surface and the pedestrian crossing markings at both crosswalks were reinstated, ensuring drivers can clearly see the point at which to concede priority for crossing pedestrians.
