Drivers ‘rounding’ the bend on Avenue J F Kennedy failed to appreciate the presence of the pedestrian crossing due to obscuring high-level dense vegetation on the approach and inadequate warning to drivers.

Safety was improved by the simple remedial measures of replacing the high-level vegetation with low-level planting, improving the signage and the introduction of traffic calming.
